A boat built to last
IAN was built in 1928 at Ängholmens Shipyard in Långedrag, Gothenburg, designed and constructed by the legendary naval architect Carl Gustaf Pettersson. The hull is carvel-built in mahogany, a material that demands knowledge, patience and craftsmanship of a kind that barely exists today.
She is 12.25 metres long, 2.40 metres wide, and accommodates twelve guests with six berths for overnight stays. Over the past century she has sailed Swedish waters under a handful of owners who all shared the same conviction: that a boat like IAN is worth preserving. Today she is berthed in Värmdö in the Stockholm Archipelago.
IAN is registered with the Motor Yacht Society (MYS) and was heritage-listed in 2025 by the National Maritime Museums of Sweden, in recognition of her unique cultural and historical value. She is one of very few preserved motor cruisers of her type and age.
